As many parents know, making sure your kids cooperate and behave even for an hour isn't always an easy task! It's easy to understand why a Family Photoshoot can seem like a daunting task, but with some preparation and a lot of patience, your family photo session can be an enjoyable experience for the entire family.
Here’s 4 easy steps that you can take to ensure your photo session is stress-free.
1. prep your kids in advance
Tell your kids about the photoshoot well ahead of time and make sure they know it's going to be an exciting day out. Our offspring aren't given enough credit for how easily they can pick up on our emotions. If you're worried about, they'll be worried about it. If you tell them exactly what to expect and explain why your family is doing this they'll pick up on your excitement. If you’re excited, they’ll definitely catch your enthusiasm!
2. let them be involved
Include your children in the planning process. Ask them what colours they think the family should wear and help them pick out an outfit, fancy dress definitely doesn't have to be excluded (see point 3.) When children feel involved, they’re much more willing to participate.
3. Bring Backup
Make sure you’re well prepared for photoshoot day. Consider bringing along a change of clothes so we can take some pictures of your favourites little ones in their favourite costumes, it will make them more accommodating in their family chosen outfits. Bring plenty of snacks, water, diapers, etc. That way, even if the unexpected happens, you’ll be ready for it!
4. MAKE IT FUN!
Make photoshoot day a special occasion! Bring along some snacks and toys as small little bribes to keep their energy up. Letting them pull funny faces and run around will let us get some great natural shots and big toothless grins and it will mean they don't feel so stifled and bored for the more traditional group shots.
